Ok, so you have your goals written for 2014, so now what do you do? This is a simple, but not easy answer. The key to successful goal setting is to track your progress. Below is a sample excel or google doc work sheet. You want to track where your business is coming from so you know that your efforts are turning into dollars in your pocket. The key to reaching your yearly and life goals is to concentrate your efforts. I was recently listing to John Maxwell’s 21 Irrefutable laws of Leadership, and he talks about the law of Activity. Being active is not the same as being productive. A lot of business people feel that because they are busy they are working towards their goals, but that is not the case. If you start tracking your business then you can focus your activity on the sources that are working. You will quickly find that you are working less and making more money. The reason this works so well is because you are putting your time and energy into sources that work for your personal business. You will soon find that you are not wasting your time on things that don’t work and rather you take that free time to be with family, to read, to work out, and do other things that you previously “did not have time for”. There is no reason to ever say “I don’t have time” for something that you love doing. You need these releases to help keep your passion alive.
I love writing and teaching and my professional systems allow me the time to make sure these passions are not ignored!
Track your business and stay focused.
